The ongoing climate changes catalyzed the consolidation of sustainable development throughout the world. Simultaneously, there's a consensus on the ecosystemic value of oceans considering their importance in many activities, such as marine transportation, tourism, fishing and oil, gas and mineral resources exploration. In Brazil, the relevance of sea exploration has intensified due to the discovery of pre-salt oil reserves.
Thus, the University of Sao Paulo's Institute of Oceanography (IO in portuguese) and Polytechnic School (EP in portuguese) initiate the NAP-OceanoS (Research Support Center - Sustainable Ocean), bringing forth the necessary bond between scientific research, regarding Oceanography, and technological research, associated with Engineering. This interaction promotes operating and developing vehicles and instruments as to assist in the research consolidation as much as the sustainability of sea resources exploration.
